Hers represented leaving behind an eight year stable (yet unfulfilling) career, and moving across the pond to start her own design business.

The tattoos came out terrible. To top it off, hers scabbed and I had an allergic reaction to something, so neither held their color. Ironically, or perhaps serendipitously, the following year and a half held difficult challenges for us both.

Last week she came to visit and we spent a few days talking, soul searching and sharing. Inbetween we shopped, drank, ate, went to the spa for massages, and headed down to Holy Mother to have our birds touched up by the insanely talented and cheeky Jayson.

As her business is taking off and her life is now a whirlwind, her bird now appears to be in flight and is surrounded in swirls and movement. In choosing my new art, I realized that my journey wasn't a literal one. While I did physically move, the search was for something within myself. I'm no longer that sad, battered looking bird. I've learned that life is more about being true to yourself and hope-FULL, no matter what life throws at you.

I encircled my sparrow in a bright orange circle surrounded by six red petals, like a Chakra. If we have our survival needs met in the Base Chakra, we are able to discover there is more out there that what we have learned, and this creates desire, which gets us to move, to reach out, to grow and to change.

Before when I would look at my wrist, I was reminded of the challenges of my past. But now my sparrow is vibrant and beautiful, surrounded in color, and symbolizes not only what I have learned, but what I will continue to learn as I grow and change.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://krystynheide.com/blog/2008/5/16/hes-more-like-a-blue-ish-teal.html"><rss:title>He's more like a blue-ish teal</rss:title><rss:link>http://krystynheide.com/blog/2008/5/16/hes-more-like-a-blue-ish-teal.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject>Digressions</dc:subject>

Wow, all of a sudden, McCain is green. Ok, so since 2003, he's been around slinging the cap and trade buzz-phrase when the environment comes up. I honestly thought it was a lame campaign strategy -- something borrowed for speeches since he couldn't come up with his own idea. But then a couple days ago, he put on his best Al Gore face and tried to win some treehugger votes -- again with the same old thing he's been riding for five years.

I agree we need something, but I'd hate to see McCain get into office and give this a whirl. Likely, Congress would vote against it, pointing at the financial and regulation nightmare the EU is experiencing and the fact that their plan has had a much smaller effect on carbon emissions than expected.

In America, I suspect it would be worse, given our love for excess and the opportunity for corruption with such a plan. To put it simply, with Cap & Trade, groups that do not pollute are rewarded financially (yay!) by selling their credits to the highest bidder (boo!). The purchasers can then continue to emit pollutants, just at a higher cost. Or, they can move their business to a country without regulations.

Which means, we’ll be paying more, still contributing to Global Warming, and giving away US jobs in the process.

Regardless, he’s still pimping it on the campaign trail, it’s all over his website. It’s like if he says he “thinks green” then that counts for not having a real solution.

A few days ago, he actually said “…you would think that if the polar bears, walruses, and sea birds have the good sense to respond to new conditions and new dangers, then humanity can respond as well.” I smacked my head on the television. Repeatedly.

Of course! Why polar bears “respond” by stranding themselves on ice. The walrus population “responds” by stampeding entire colonies to death and abandoning their pups. And sea birds “respond” by not breeding.

They're onto something! Let's leave those who can’t afford expensive energy costs stranded and kill off businesses that can’t afford to buy credits or change their business model!

Maybe we should all think like Sea Birds and just stop procreating.

But do we think he'll actually try to make it happen if he gets into office? He's waived his green thumb before, yet <a href="http://capwiz.com/lcv_stage/bio/keyvotes/?id=192&congress=1102&lvl=C" he skips out when it's time to vote. Carl Pope, executive director of the Sierra Club, called him a liar. "Out of 535 Members of Congress, McCain is the only one who chose to miss every single key environmental vote" he said. "...every other Member who (opposed) at least had the temerity to show up and vote against the environment and clean energy time after time. And unlike John McCain, I doubt any of them would claim to be environmental leaders or champions on global warming."

Ah well, it could be worse. At least he's not the AntiChrist and doesn't blame his flatulence on the dog.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://krystynheide.com/blog/2008/5/8/calorie-free-caramel-frappuccinos.html"><rss:title>Calorie Free Caramel Frappuccinos</rss:title><rss:link>http://krystynheide.com/blog/2008/5/8/calorie-free-caramel-frappuccinos.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject>Digressions Squarespace hopeREVO Sci-Fi</dc:subject>

The last few months have been frantic around here, but in a good way. Like a kind of Frappuccino- sugary-caffeine-induced-frantic. You love it, you’re getting a lot done, and it tastes like a little slice of heaven. ;)

We’re in the final stages of a new Squarespace release that is so huge it almost feels like we’re launching an entirely new product. To make another Starbucks reference, it’s like when you’ve been addicted to Caramel Frappuccinos for years, and then they come out with one that is calorie free. And it tastes better. With chocolate chips even.

It's that good.

The last day to send in hope notes for Rwanda was yesterday, and so far I'd say we've received at least 100. This isn't so much frantic or time consuming, but something that's been on my mind and in my heart. I will miss seeing my post office box stuffed with hope notes.

It's been uplifting to say the least.

Despite it all, I still managed to watch the last episode of Battlestar (albeit, TiVo'd) and participate in the Sc-Fi cast. Dave has added it to our iTunes podcast -- if you haven't already, subscribe here.

Even if you're not a huge fan of the show, you just might enjoy it, if only for the Atari references and my persistent valley girl accent. Like omigod, dontcha know.

Moving on to bigger and better ... with less hyphen. And they need your help deciding what it should be!

I feel their pain. Anyone who's read me since way back when has witnessed a few name changes around here. Recently, when I started hoperevo.com I went through a dozen other names first. Some were too long, hard to spell, or too similar to projects others were doing. Friends kept offering up names, usually with “hope” or “revolution” in them, and then one day it struck me. hopeREVO. Short, simple, easy to remember and got right to the point.

When I looked through the name ideas presented by sk*rt, SHESAW struck me in the same way. It totally makes sense. What is sk*rt? It’s Digg for women. Of course there’s lots more to it, but at it’s core, that’s what it is.

I love that it also has two concepts behind it:
1) “She saw” as in, I’m a she, I saw this, you should check it out.
2) The play on the word “seesaw”. It implies participation, community, give and take, back and forth. You can’t play on a seesaw alone. Well you can, but it’s not half as fun. Just like the internet.

So to end my rambling rant: SEESAW. I fracking love it!

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://krystynheide.com/blog/2008/4/29/send-in-your-hope-notes-for-rwanda.html"><rss:title>Send in your Hope Notes for Rwanda!</rss:title><rss:link>http://krystynheide.com/blog/2008/4/29/send-in-your-hope-notes-for-rwanda.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

Pseudo-anonymous graffiti artist BANKSY has pulled off one of his best stunts to date - despite being watched by CCTV cameras. The Daily Mail says:

Banksy pulled off an audacious stunt to produce what is believed to be his biggest work yet in central London, (erecting) three storeys of scaffolding behind a security fence despite being watched by a CCTV camera. Then, during darkness and hidden behind a sheet of polythene, he painted this comment on 'Big Brother' society. Yesterday the scaffolding gang returned to remove all evidence - again without the camera operator stopping them.

The work, above a Post Office yard in Newman Street near Oxford Circus, shows a small boy, watched by a security guard, painting the words: 'One nation under CCTV.'

I've had this brave spirit in my thoughts since my soulsister Jen first told me of her heartbreaking journey almost a year ago.

When Jen first met her on a schoolyard playground, she learned Odette, a genocide survivor from Rwanda, was in a very difficult and dangerous situation with few resources
and limited access to proper help. Her activist heart and compassionate soul went wild, and over time the two women forged a friendship and found a way for Odette to start over again. I can't be too specific about the situation as there are ongoing issues related to Odette’s future and her safety. But I can say that what she has experienced is beyond imaginable to me. I admire not only her strength and courage, but that of Jen as well. Many of us would have distanced ourselves from such a situation.

You'll read more about it when you click the link below, but the big news is that Jen has the chance to go to Rwanda (where Odette's daughters are) and do some good on her behalf not only for her Grace and Lillian, but for everyone she meets along the way.

I'm so excited for her, and for the light she will bring to Rwanda! I can't think of a better person to send. You can read more here:

http://jenlemen.com/blog/?p=368

I'm officially changing my position. The 12th Cylon is Dee.

The empty seat at the table? Next to Lee Adama, her husband. On the other side in the same position? Who Lee is really in love with, and her husband.

Her real name is Anastasia, which is a Greek word that translates to resurrection, and according to this, "was a deliberate choice by Ron Moore."

She dates the President's original aide (Billy) and later marries Adama, both men who could get her access to sensitive, strategic information. By the time of the Cylon invasion, she serves as executive officer of the Pegasus.

She splits from Adama in Season 3... is this also why she's missing in the image?

And, as Paul pointed out, "Leoben says 'Adama is a Cylon.'" Dee is Mrs. Lee Adama.

Still lines up with some of the points in my Roslin post, especially 3, 4 and 5.

With everyone geeking out publically on who they think will turn out to be the final 12th Cylon model, I couldn't resist the urge to post my theories.

For starters, I feel like the writers are trying too hard to make us believe it's Baltar. He just seems too obvious and revealing him as the 12th would be anti-climactic. (Sorry Ged!) But there's something to be said about him surviving the original attack. My theory is that he somehow merged with Six in the original explosion, and they were both reborn when she was downloaded. I don't know HOW, but it would explain why he survived, and why they both see imaginary versions of each other.

I'm peeved that Jen beat me to it, but <strike>I think the 12th Cylon is President Laura Roslin.</strike> The above image and some other random theories make me pretty sure:

The Last Supper image has always been at the center of the conspiracy theory that Jesus was married to Mary Magdeline. Some say the Last Supper contains a hidden image of a woman holding a child. Roslin takes Sharon's child Hera and hides her from the Cylons AND the Humans. Also, Roslin's cancer was cured by Hera's blood.

In the last supper image, the missing character is Judas. This could be Roslin's assistant Tory Foster. She knows where Hera is, and could betray Roslin.

Men are constantly being manipulated by female Cylons and sex on this show. Six pretty much blew up Caprica with Baltar's penis. And how did Roslin get into power? She was fracking the fracking President.

Also, now that the four are revealed, how many Cylon/Human couples are on the show? Adama and Roslin are sort of a couple. And, Cylons can't reproduce on their own. That would rule out Cally, since her baby daddy is a Cylon. And maybe Starbuck. If that kid Leoben introduced to her was really made with her ovary in the baby factory.

There's a reoccurring theme of Humans and Cylons falling in love with each other and causing a shift towards reconciliation, peace and perhaps finding Earth together. While centered symbolically around Baltar and Six, Adama and Roslin could be the "Jesus and Mary Magdeline" as they would each be leaders of the surviving Humans and Cylons. Also, note how they're seated in the Last Supper image above.

I almost forgot! Sharon, Six and Roslin all share the same dream in the Opera House. Sharon and Six are Cyclons... how does Roslin share their dream?

What are your theories?
